Brevoort Park School’s 50th Anniversary Celebration

Everyone is welcome to join in celebrating Brevoort Park School’s 50th anniversary this year. A celebration is being planned for Friday, May 30th, starting at 2 p.m. with an assembly in the large gym followed by an open house and tours of the school. Come enjoy a display of memorabilia from the school’s years. There will be an Apollo Jump for the kids and from 5-7 is a family barbecue (hamburgers $2, pop/water $1). Come out and enjoy the fun! If you are a past or current student of the school and would like to be involved in the preparations or would like more details about the event, please contact the school at 306-683-7110 or the community association at info@brevoortpark.ca.

Brevoort Park Garage Sale Day

Have your garage sale with the neighbourhood on May 3rd! Just register by emailing events@brevoortpark.ca. You need to be a current community association member, or purchase a membership @ $10. A map of the area with addresses of participating houses will be handed out in front of Brevoort Park School starting at 8 a.m. on May 3rd. The day will also be advertised in the Star Phoenix and on Kijiji.

Not enough for a garage sale? Register for the Boot Sale instead – sell items out of  your vehicle in the Brevoort Park School parking lot

To add to the day, a barbeque will be housed in front of Brevoort Park School from 11:30-2:00 p.m. and there will be an Apollo Jump set up on the front lawn (by the bbq).

Traffic Concerns in Brevoort Park – information requested

The City of Saskatoon’s Shaping Saskatoon Community Engagement web page contains information related to the recent Brevoort Park Public Input Traffic Review Meeting:

– A summary of traffic issues in Brevoort Park that have been brought forward to the City’s Transportation Division

– A summary of the notes taken during the January 23, 2014 meeting held at Ecole St. Matthew Elementary School, and

– Survey questions requesting additional community input related totraffic issues in Brevoort Park

Please note that there is a March 31, 2014 deadline for submitting feedback either online or via mail-in to the City of Saskatoon.

Once the City establishes its readiness for a follow-up public input meeting later in 2014, information will be sent via the community email list and posted on the website.

In conjunction with the Shinny Day in the Park, the Brevoort Park Community Association is hosting a Dinner and Dance at the Legion Hall (3021 Louise Street). You don’t have to be involved in the shinny tournament to enjoy this community event:

Shinny Day in the Park – Family Fun for Everyone at our Community Rink! March 8

Shinny Tournament – Games 11:00am – 5:00pm AND Shinny Shenanigans for the kids (12:30 – 4:00pm)

Burgers and Concession will be available by the rink.

History Presentation, Jan. 29

The presentation, “From Temperance Colony to Prairie City” has been re-scheduled from Jan. 23 to  Wed. Jan. 29, 7-9 p.m. in the Brevoort Park School library. This is a free evening with Jeff O’Brien, Saskatoon City Archivist, following up from his initial presentation on Nov. 21st. Enjoy historic photos and related stories of the founding of Saskatoon. You do not have to have attended the November presentation to enjoy this one.
