Hello Neighbours! Our names are Dave and Rochelle and we live on Welker Crescent. We initially petitioned the neighborhood regarding traffic calming measures along Arlington Ave (between Taylor Street and 7th Street).
Traffic Along Arlington Ave
Walking the kids to school every day we have noticed the volume of vehicles travelling down Arlington Ave between 7th Street and Taylor Street and especially the speed they are doing. There are a considerable number of people who do not slow down for the playground zone in front of Ecole St. Matthew School. Given the number of children who access this area, we are concerned for the potential of accidents and serious injury as a result.
City of Saskatoon – Traffic Calming Petition Results
Please note that the petition was successful, and we received 56% support of the neighborhood catchment area for the City to review further traffic calming measures. Please refer to page two of this document for the catchment area where neighborhood residents are eligible to vote.

What is Traffic Calming
Traffic calming uses physical measures like speed humps, speed cushions, raised intersections and crossings, curb extensions, median islands and traffic circles to address issues like speeding and shortcutting.
Next Steps
The City of Saskatoon has mailed out a Community Ballot notice to each house in the catchment area. They are proposing putting median islands along Arlington Ave and we have included the proposed median island locations on page 3 of this document.
The Ask
We are asking for your support by voting on the community ballot by the October 5th, 2026 deadline. Pease note that we require 60% support from residents within the catchment area for the City to move forward with the median islands, so voting is important.
